Lecturer | Kaiako

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lecturer | Kaiako to join our team at Te Rito Maioha Primary Teacher Education. This is a part-time, fixed-term position to add capacity to our teaching and visiting team in either the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and/or Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) programmes for semester 1, 2026.

What you'll be doing

• Design and deliver course materials, incorporating interactive and engaging teaching methods
• Teach across the Undergraduate and Graduate programmes
• Develop and maintain curriculum materials, assessment tasks and resources to support student learning
• Provide academic and pastoral support to students, guiding them through their studies
• Participate in programme and course reviews, contributing to the continuous improvement of our offerings

What we're looking for

• A posgraduate degree in Education or a related field, with a strong background in primary education
• Full teacher certification and practicing certificate
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse learners
• A deep understanding of current trends and best practices in primary education
• A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and a commitment to continuous improvement
• Knowledge in te reo Māori and a strong understanding of Māori culture and values
