About the role:

Our Private Hospital client in South Canterbury has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Ward Manager to join their modern, well-equipped private surgical hospital.

With 3 operating theatres, a 15-bed inpatient ward, and a 14-bed day stay surgery unit, this hospital performs over 2,800 procedures annually across specialties including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, and Ophthalmology.

In this leadership role, you will provide professional and clinical direction to a dedicated nursing team, ensuring excellence in patient care and outcomes through a hands-on, patient-centred approach. You'll lead a team of 20+ nurses, fostering collaboration, development, and clinical excellence across both the inpatient and day stay units.

About you:

The Successful Applicant Must Be:

  • A NZ Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate
  • An experienced RN with at least 5 years' surgical experience
  • A strong people leader with the ability to inspire and mentor others
  • Skilled in communication, both written and verbal
  • Committed to clinical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Culturally aware, with an understanding of Tikanga Māori
  • A confident problem solver, able to make sound clinical and leadership decisions
  • Proactive, energetic, and motivated to make a positive impact on patients and staff alike
