About the Role
As a Network Engineer, you will play a vital role in keeping Health NZ's digital networks secure, stable, and performing at their best. You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining network services that support hospitals, clinical teams, and digital systems across Aotearoa. Working closely with senior engineers, project teams, and vendors, you will troubleshoot complex issues, implement robust solutions, and contribute to ongoing improvements in network reliability and performance. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, nationally significant infrastructure, helping to shape the future of digital connectivity in New Zealand's health system.
In addition, we are also looking for people to join our Digital Services on-call pool. This involves being part of a roster that provides after-hours support as required.

About you
You are a skilled and proactive ICT professional with a passion for building and maintaining secure, high-performing network environments. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working collaboratively with others, and ensuring systems run smoothly and efficiently. With a strong foundation in IT operations and a keen eye for continuous improvement, you're ready to contribute to a network that supports vital healthcare services across Aotearoa.
You will bring:
- 1–3 years' experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining digital or IT services
- 5+ years providing day-to-day technical support for end-users and/or IT systems
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex issues, managing incidents, and implementing effective technical solutions
- A solid understanding of operational standards and a commitment to maintaining secure, reliable, and high-performing systems
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, wireless)
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- CCNA certification or equivalentService Management or ITIL certifications (desirable)
