We are looking for experienced Asphalt Pavement Operative to join our team in Christchurch.

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

We're looking for a motivated and safety-focused Asphalt Paving Operative to support our paving crew in Christchurch, delivering high-quality work on time and to standard. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in helping the team meet productivity, safety, and quality targets across a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing the ground - clearing, levelling, and compacting the base before paving.
  • Laying materials - using materials like asphalt, concrete, slabs, block paving, or tarmac.
  • Operating machinery - using tools such as compactors, rollers, and sometimes mechanical pavers.
  • Finishing and sealing - ensuring the surface is level, smooth, and properly joined/sealed.
  • Repairing surfaces - fixing potholes, cracks, or worn areas.

As a Paving Operative, you'll be responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of plant and equipment, ensuring everything is well-maintained and compliant with current regulations.

You'll also have:

  • A Full Class 2 Drivers License
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Attention to detail and spatial awareness
  • Ability to follow site plans and drawings
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
