As one of the leading providers of vocational education, we deliver industry-relevant programmes that prepare learners for meaningful careers in New Zealand's growing food and hospitality sectors.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Baking Tutor to join our hands-on Hospitality team in February 2026. This is a fixed-term, part-time position and classes will be two evenings and on Saturdays each week, for 30 weeks.

About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

In this role, you'll deliver practical and theory-based baking training that equips learners with the skills, confidence, and industry knowledge needed to succeed in commercial kitchens, bakeries, and food production environments.

You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, demonstrate techniques in a commercial style teaching kitchen, and support learners to achieve programme outcomes. This position also involves assessment, moderation, and ensuring compliance with NZQA requirements.

Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with following the skills and experience:

  • Relevant baking, patisserie, or culinary qualification (NZQA Level 4 or above)
  • Proven experience working in commercial bakeries, cafes, patisseries, food manufacturing or similar environments
  • Demonstrated competence across key baking techniques i.e. breadmaking, pastries, cakes, dough lamination, finishing, and food safety practices
  • Strong experience in training, supervising, or mentoring learners
  • A solid understanding of food safety and hygiene compliance
  • Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to create positive, inclusive learning environments and support learners with varying levels of experience
  • Commitment to academic quality, assessment, and continuous programme improvement
