Workshop Technician

WORKSHOP TECHNICIAN - VEHICLE GLASS

Novus Glass is a recognized and trusted name throughout New Zealand, providing comprehensive vehicle glass services to domestic and commercial customers.  Their Timaru branch needs an experienced workshop technician to complete both workshop and site-based vehicle glass replacement and repairs.

Key role details:

• Timaru-based role
• Minimum 40 hours per week
• Permanent position
• Full driver's licence required
• Must pass drug and alcohol screening

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Performing all workshop duties including windscreen/windo replacement and repair on small and large vehicles
• Completing window tinting (full training will be provided if required)
• Providing superior customer service to customers by phone and in person
• Prioritizing the customer experience ensuring excellent quality and service
• Safely operating company vehicles and machinery
• Ensuring job-related administration and record keeping is up to date and accurate within company systems
• Working safely in a busy workshop environment

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

• Prior experience in the automotive glass repair and replacement industry (desirable)
• Alternatively, a proven work record in technician roles (eg automotive repairs, maintenance, or similar practical roles), and the ability to be trained to perform autoglazing
• Knowledge of window tinting would be an advantage, but training will be provided for the successful candidate
• Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on quality
• Strong communication skills in person and over the phone
• Excellent physical fitness and agility – ability to climb ladders, lift products, and move in and out of vehicles
• Confident computer skills, experience using in-house database or CRM systems
• Ability to use hand-held technology such as tablets and smartphones

• Be able to drive a company vehicle to independently complete work at the client sites
• Must have a valid, full NZ driver's license and safe driving record
