We are seeking three reliable and safety-focused Class 5 Truck Drivers to join our dynamic linehaul floating team. The successful candidates will be responsible for operating heavy vehicles on the Christchurch to Nelson route, ensuring timely and secure delivery of goods while following all safety and compliance standards. Although the unit is based in Christchurch, this is a floating driving role, so applicants must be comfortable travelling nationwide and staying away from home as required.

Successful applicants will be expected to obtain Dangerous Goods, Forklift, and OSH certifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and drive trucks with compliance to legal and safety standards.
  • Comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of load.
  • Positioning vehicles for smooth loading & unloading.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel use, and log out book.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, customers and dispatchers regarding schedules and delivery updates.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues to the management.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry rules, regulations and safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • This is a floating run position, requiring flexibility to drive across the country as needed and stay away from home when required.
  • Must hold a valid New Zealand Class 5 Truck Driving Licence with a clean driving record, or a valid overseas licence equivalent to Class 5 and be willing to convert it to a New Zealand licence.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience or a Level 3 qualification is required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be capable of lifting heavy loads and performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Must be familiar with GPS and digital navigation systems.
  • Availability to work Monday to Saturday, beginning Sunday night, is essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $28.00 – $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
