We're looking for an experienced Senior Estimator (newly created position) to join our Civil business in Hornby, Christchurch. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has a sharp eye for detail, and is passionate about delivering accurate and competitive tenders for complex civil projects.

What you'll be doing

Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions across a range of heavy civil projects — including roading and pavements, three waters infrastructure, and land development.

• Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and commercial teams to develop winning methodologies and innovative solutions.
• Analysing drawings, specifications, and contractual documents to identify opportunities, risks, and cost efficiencies.
• Leading estimating input for both standalone tenders and design–build or alliance projects.
• Supporting our estimators through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

What you'll bring

• Proven experience estimating medium to large-scale civil construction projects in New Zealand.
• Strong knowledge of NZS 3910, NZTA specifications, and local authority standards.
• Advanced capability with estimating software (e.g. Expert Estimation, Candy, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
