As a GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the development of robust and precise control systems for our cutting-edge autonomous platforms. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and testing the algorithms that enable our vehicles to navigate accurately and perform their missions reliably in diverse environments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for various autonomous vehicle platforms (UAVs, UGVs, USVs).

  • Conduct modeling, simulation, and analysis of GNC systems to predict performance and optimise design.

  • Develop and implement sensor fusion algorithms (e.g., GPS, IMU, LiDAR, vision) for accurate state estimation.

  • Perform tuning and calibration of GNC systems to achieve desired performance characteristics.

  • Collaborate with the software team on the integration of GNC algorithms into the embedded software architecture.

  • Design and execute rigorous testing and validation strategies for GNC systems in simulation and on physical platforms.

  • Analyse test data, identify root causes of anomalies, and work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to GNC performance.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of GNC system designs based on testing and operational insights.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of GNC designs, algorithms, and test results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 1+ years of experience in GNC engineering, preferably in aerospace, robotics, or autonomous systems.

  • Strong understanding of control theory, state estimation, and sensor fusion techniques.

  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for GNC system design and simulation.

  • Experience with real-time embedded systems and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Salary range: $80, ,000 NZD depending on level of experience. 

Minimum guaranteed hours of work: 40 hours per week, 8:30-5pm, Monday – Friday.
