Damwatch has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil / Structural Draftsperson.  This is a permanent and full-time role based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Damwatch Engineering Ltd is a specialised engineering consultancy - we focus on dams and hydraulic structures, providing strategic engineering and dam safety services for civil and mechanical infrastructure in New Zealand and overseas. Due to increased workload we are seeking an experienced CAD draftsperson to support these projects.

The role:

  • Help support a team of Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical engineers.
  • Help support the CAD workflows that produce and control engineering drawings within the organisation and CAD team.
  • Play a key role in maintaining 3D modelling capabilities for Civil and Structural infrastructure.
  • Developing and maintaining up to date knowledge of usual analytical methods at an appropriate level
  • Developing and maintaining up to date knowledge of design codes, guidelines and methods for general civil engineering design and safe operation of structures and features associated with water resources and appurtenant structures at appropriate level

Ideally you will have:

  • At least 15 years' experience in civil engineering projects particularly related to dams, canals, bridges and heavy civil engineering works, with demonstratable knowledge and ability to produce associated engineering drawings
  • Ability to be a self-starter and able to work autonomously for periods of time
  • Ability and desire to provide the glue between the engineers and the constructors
  • Strong proficiency in using AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in preparation and management of construction drawings and sketches
  • Strong competence in developing and maintaining 3D CAD models including AutoCAD 3DSolids and Revit
  • Experience in working with high-performing and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience working in a BIM environment
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Advantage in having experience in steel and rebar detailing
  • Interest in developing your skills in 3D visualisation, GIS and BIM enabled packages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognised technical qualification in civil engineering / drafting or equivalent
