The Crown Response Office (CRO), part of Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission, leads the Crown's response to the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry. This is high-profile, meaningful work that will influence system-level change and deliver enduring improvements for survivors and communities. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you'll get the opportunity to:
- Work in a central agency environment, gaining exposure to system leadership and cross-government priorities.
- Lead and contribute to advice for an engaged Minister.
- Collaborate across agencies and disciplines – policy, operational delivery, engagement, legal – in a genuinely integrated team.

- Apply Te Tiriti principles and trauma-informed practice in real-world policy.

About you:
- Strong policy development and analysis skills, ideally in complex or sensitive areas.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver clear, actionable advice.
- Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills.
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, and kawa, or a commitment to learn.
You'll be part of a cohesive and dedicated team working on a programme that matters. The Crown Response Office is a timebound entity with a clear mission: to deliver improvements to redress by 30 June 2026 and a Crown Response Plan by 30 June 2027. This role usually pays between $107,146 to $130,507 and is flexible depending on skills and experience.
