Electrician (Contractor)

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and skilled Electrician (Contractor) to join our team in New Zealand. In this role, you'll play a key part in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across a range of sites. You'll also provide expert diagnostic and troubleshooting support to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.

While your primary base will be New Zealand, you should be open to short-term relocation or project assignments in Australia and China as part of regional support and development work.

• Install, maintain, and repair single-phase and three-phase electrical systems (240 V and 415 V)
• Work with power generation systems, including generators and associated switchgear
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot ring main systems, step-up and step-down transformers, and low-voltage control systems
• Conduct switching operations on electrical systems safely and efficiently
• Develop and implement solutions to minimise downtime and ensure reliable operation of all electrical systems
• Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS and relevant international electrical standards

• Unrestricted Electrician's Licence (New Zealand or eligible for recognition under the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement)
• Extensive experience with single-phase and three-phase systems (240 V and 415 V)
• Strong understanding of power generation, ring main systems, transformers, and switching
• Proven expertise in low-voltage control systems, BMS, and EMS
• Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• In-depth knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3760, AS/NZS 1680, NEC, and NFPA 70
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in remote or island environments
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical diagrams and schematics
• Valid driver's licence and relevant electrical work licences/accreditations
• HV and HA Accreditation, CPR/LVR certification, and Construction White Card (or NZ equivalent)

• 5+ years' experience in a Field Service or similar role
• Strong background in fault finding on complex control systems
• Experience with marine electronic systems, solar power, battery, and inverter technologies

• Self-motivated and results-driven with a strong commitment to safety
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Adaptable and flexible with a willingness to travel and work in different environments
• Resourceful and capable of solving problems with limited support or resources
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in remote or island settings
