In the moment, for the future:
At Genesis, we're always looking ahead - to new possibilities, smarter solutions, and a better energy future for Aotearoa New Zealand. Every role here plays a part in shaping what's next, whether it's through cutting-edge technology, bold thinking, or everyday excellence. If you're driven by progress and inspired by purpose, this is your chance to be part of something remarkable. Step into a career where your actions today help power tomorrow.
What you'll do:
We've got an exciting opportunity for a passionate environmental professional to make a real impact at one of New Zealand's most iconic energy sites - Huntly Power Station.
You'll be part of a tight-knit team that's deeply connected to both the Huntly site and the wider Genesis Environmental and Community Group. This site-based role is all about getting hands-on, helping us meet our resource consent requirements, and driving positive environmental outcomes.
Reporting to our Huntly Environmental Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting environmental management and monitoring. You'll work with environmental data to measure, track, and report on compliance with complex resource consent requirements, and collaborate closely with consultants providing environmental, technical, and planning services to Genesis Energy.
With an interesting and varied workload ahead, this is a role where you can truly see the difference your work makes - both on site and in the community.
Please note, this is a 13-month parental leave cover at Huntly, with flexibility to work one day a week from our Hamilton office.
What you'll need:
You are a passionate environmental expert who thrives on collaboration, and you approach complex challenges with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset. You communicate effortlessly, whether you're leading a project, negotiating with stakeholders, or offering technical guidance.
What we're looking for:
- A tertiary qualification in environmental or freshwater science (or similar) and a background in environmental management and monitoring
- Proven environmental compliance experience in a related industry, local/central government, or consulting
- Proficient in managing and understanding large datasets
- Strong Excel skills with experience analysing environmental data; R experience an advantage
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
How we'll help you thrive:
We're proud of our strong culture, which makes Genesis a great place to work. Ensuring our people are safe at work and can be themselves is crucial, this is reflected in our focus on safety and wellbeing.
We believe embracing diversity, embedding equity and being intentional about inclusion are essential to making Genesis a strong, innovative workplace where different backgrounds, perspectives and ideas thrive.
