Assistant Accountant

Role Overview

As the Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the financial management of the village operations. This is a busy and varied role with tight deadlines. You will need to be able to hit the ground running and work with minimal supervision. Experience with retirement village accounting is desirable but not essential.

This is a part-time role working 20 hours per week. Quail Ridge Country Club is located in Kerikeri Northland.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fully manage accounts payable and receivable for several sites.
2. Monitor village cashflow
3. Transition and implement DEXT and Xero for some sites
4. Act as VCare Administrator and ensure integration with Xero.
5. Contribute to the implementation of accounting policies and procedures
6. Complete bank reconciliations
7. Maintain the fixed assets register
8. Support the Accountant as required
9. Provide a backup for payroll processing
10. Take a key role in special projects

What We're Looking For

1. Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or a related field
2. 1-2 years of experience in a similar assistant accountant or bookkeeping role
3. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
4. Proficiency in accounting Xero software and Microsoft Office suite
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work effectively mostly unsupervised
7. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards
