About the role:
Raukura Hauora o Tainui has four Medical Clinics across four locations in Hamilton (Dinsdale and Enderley), Waahi (Huntly) and Nga Miro (Ngāruawāhia).
We operate Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm. We're looking for a dedicated and culturally attuned Rata Hauora (General Practitioner) to join our team, primarily based at our Huntly clinic.
This full-time role presents a meaningful opportunity to provide exceptional primary care in a welcoming and collaborative environment. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team of skilled clinicians, nurses, and support staff, all committed to delivering patient-focused care that reflects RO's values and principles.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment services to patients in consultation with patient and whanau
- Ordering diagnostic tests as needed, checking, acting on and informing patients of results in a timely manner
- Referring patients appropriately and in a timely manner to other providers if their needs exceed the range of care you are able to provide, and following up these referrals
- Continuity of care with assessment of ongoing health management needs
- Ensure ongoing support services are in place
- Committing to health education for patients and whanau on lifestyle risk and to prevent the development of disease, recurrences and deterioration in disease state
- Consulting and collaborating with colleagues to provide optimal care
- Documenting all care provided and education/information given to patients within their health record, as per professional and Raukura Hauora O Tainui Health standards.

To be considered for this role ideally you will need to have:
- Registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Practical experience as General Practitioner, 3 to 5 years' experience (preferred)
- Experience in accident & medical care in a primary care setting
- Experience working with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds
- Evidence of advanced level of clinical skills, competency and leadership as demonstrated in professional portfolio
- Strategic planning and development skills
- Understanding of Government Health Policy
- Experience in using Medtech or similar patient management system (preferred)
- Minor surgery skills
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Familiarity of Te Reo Maaori and Tikanga Maaori is an advantage
- Flexibility to travel within the Waikato region.
It is mandatory for you to have the following:
- Registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand/Aotearoa (citizen, work Visa or NZ Residency)
- Full NZ Driver's licence
- Preferred applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment checks.
