Claymark Group limited is New Zealand's largest manufacturer and exporter of premium pine products made from sustainably managed radiata pine plantations in New Zealand's central North Island. We are looking for a capable, technical and people-oriented Yard Manager to run the Thames Kiln and Defilleting & Filleting areas. The complex is advanced, challenging and an important part of the site and the wider business. Key aspects to this role are a relentless commitment to quality, high calibre technical and analytical ability, a drive to increase productivity and commitment to achieving a safe and healthy workplace. This role reports to the Site Manager and is an important member of the site management team.
Key function and duties
· Responsibility of continuous improvements in kiln drying and efficiency of associated plant.
- Responsibility of Defilleting and Weekend Filleting processing to meet site targets
· Responsibility to work with key staff to understand charge scheduling requirements and establish an effective rolling plan to met requirements
· To grow the kiln and defilleting/Filleting teams through training and foster a positive culture
· Focus on the maintenance and presentation of the kiln complex
· Assist with scheduling kiln drying effectively to meet the demands of the remanufacturing operations
· Manage the timber flow into, around and out of the drying complex
· Manage the boiler fuel requirements/surplus volumes at the Thames site.
Person Specifications
· NZQA Level 3 EnChem certificate or similar experience.
· Previous boiler/kiln drying experience in a high production environment.
· Mechanical engineering qualification.
· Experience in leading a team .
· Strong written and verbal communication and ability to lead, encourage and motivate employees.
· Sound business management skills including: the ability to read, interpret and communicate production data and use and maintain operational processing and reporting systems and procedures.
· Loader/forklift license.
