Insolvency Senior Manager

An established and growing professional services firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join their Insolvency and Business Restructuring team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with strong expertise in corporate insolvency and investigations to advance their career within a respected organisation.
In this role, you will manage formal insolvency engagements, including receiverships, liquidations, and voluntary administrations, ensuring full compliance with New Zealand insolvency legislation. You will play a critical role in securing, recovering, and realising assets, as well as conducting detailed commercial analysis of distressed entities.
We require someone with excellent investigative skills who can assist in complex investigations, including developing and pursuing legal claims where appropriate. The ability to manage multiple insolvency files effectively and deliver clear, concise statutory and special purpose reports is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage formal insolvency engagements such as receiverships, liquidations, and voluntary administrations in accordance with NZ legislation.
- Secure, recover, and realise assets, including in relation to business trading activities.
- Conduct detailed investigations, including identifying and pursuing potential legal claims.
- Provide commercial analysis of distressed businesses and entities.
- Review creditor claims for distribution purposes.
- Draft advice and prepare statutory and special purpose reports for clients and stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor team members, ensuring technical and professional standards are maintained.
- Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to enhancing internal procedures.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development opportunities.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, law, or property.
- Professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or legal qualifications, or be actively working towards these.
- A minimum of five years' experience managing corporate insolvency engagements and investigations.
- Strong knowledge of insolvency legislation and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with software such as Xero and Microsoft Excel.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders professionally, even in high-pressure situations.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to think creatively and provide insightful solutions.
