Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP) is a not-for-profit on a bold mission — to restore Aotearoa/New Zealand's wild places by making them pest free.

Since its beginnings a decade ago, ZIP has grown from an ambitious start-up backed by the NEXT Foundation and the Department of Conservation into a leading force in predator research and development, innovation and elimination. With a talented team of 90 practitioners, scientists, engineers and field experts, ZIP develops and delivers world-class technology and strategies to protect native wildlife and restore ecosystems.

Their work spans some of the country's most breathtaking and ecologically important regions — from the rainforests of South Westland and the drylands of Aoraki/Mount Cook to the wild landscapes of Rakiura/Stewart Island.

The Opportunity

ZIP is seeking a skilled and passionate Finance Business Partner to connect finance with conservation, providing meaningful insights that help shape decisions, drive efficiency, and create lasting environmental impact.

This is a pivotal role that blends commercial expertise with purpose. The Finance Business Partner will work closely with operational and development teams to:

  • Provide clear, actionable financial insights that support ZIP's conservation and R&D projects.
  • Prepare business cases that balance operational and research needs with financial sustainability.
  • Support the development of budgets, forecasts and performance reports.
  • Build trusted relationships and guide financial decision-making across the organisation.
  • Challenge assumptions and champion financial sustainability in pursuit of ZIP's mission.

About You

You'll bring strong analytical and financial planning skills, alongside the ability to communicate complex information in a simple, engaging way. You'll be commercially savvy, emotionally intelligent and thrive in a collaborative, values-driven environment.

A CA qualification (or equivalent) would be an advantage, as would experience partnering with operational teams in a complex or project-based environment. Most importantly, you'll share a genuine passion for protecting Aotearoa's wild places and making a measurable difference for future generations.
