The Role

IHC is strengthening how it communicates, engages, and advocates for people with intellectual disabilities across Aotearoa. We are seeking a Manager, Communications and Community Engagement to lead internal and external communications, media, brand, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach activities.

Your Role

This role leads communications strategy, media relations, storytelling, brand management, digital channels, issues management, community engagement, and internal communications. You will support IHC's visibility, reputation, and relationships across diverse audiences.

Key Focus Areas


• Deliver internal and external communications strategies aligned to IHC's mission


• Lead media engagement, messaging, issues management, and proactive storytelling


• Strengthen IHC's brand and digital presence, including social media and content


• Drive community engagement and relationships with families, supporters, and partners


• Support organisational change, staff engagement, and consistent internal messaging

About You

You will bring strong capability in communication, engagement, media, digital content, and stakeholder management. You are a storyteller with strategic judgement, cultural competence, and the ability to communicate clearly and confidently across diverse audiences. You can translate complex information into compelling, accessible messages that build trust and connection.
