About the role
The (MHACS) CNS Nurse Educator role will work across both urban and rural Emergency Departments within Southern; acting in the roles of educator, consultant, researcher, leader/change agent in the pursuit of excellence and improved health outcomes for people experiencing mental distress.
Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Building the capability and confidence of staff working in the Emergency Department (ED) and other locations people present in crises
- Support the professional development of clinical, non-clinical and administration staff who interact with individuals (and their whanau or support people) presenting with mental health needs or in distress
- Assist in building the capability of the front-line workforce to respond confidently and professionally to mental health crises events
- Act as a wellbeing resource for the ED teams to support front-line staff
- Utilise excellent interpersonal skills and model professionalism, in the context of people experiencing mental distress and its impact

About you
Our ideal candidate will:
- have at least five years of clinical experience in mental health and addictions
- be a Registered Nurse with a valid APC
- be a PDRP Expert
- have a postgraduate diploma in specialty nursing practice
- have the ability to work well in a team and foster good interpersonal relationships across services.
