Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust is the Post Settlement Governance Entity responsible for receiving and managing the Treaty Settlement assets of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua. Our operation spans from Wairarapa through to Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua.
We are committed to upholding the mana of Ngāti Kahungunu from Wairarapa to Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua, being hapū-led, and delivering intergenerational wellbeing through strategic investment, cultural integrity, and whānau-centred development.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Pūmanawa tangata - HR Lead to join our team. This is a new role for us, and a key one that will support our development as an organisation. You will provide support across all areas of the employee life cycle, ensuring a people-focussed approach that aligns with our culture and values. The position provides support to the Settlement Trust and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
As an experienced HR practitioner, you will work closely with the Chief Executive to guide and embed people practices and our organisational values across the group.
The role offers a great blend of strategic support and hands-on operations including:
· Developing and implementing HR policies, practices and guidelines in line with current employment legislation.
· Managing recruitment and selection processes, onboarding and induction.
· Providing guidance on performance development, employee relations, and disciplinary procedures.
· Developing, implementing and reviewing health and safety policies and procedures.
· Fostering a positive work environment and promoting organisation culture and values.
What you'll bring
· Minimum 5 years' experience in a HR generalist role, including health and safety.
· Strong understanding of New Zealand employment law and HR best practice.
· Proven experience providing proactive and robust HR advice and support.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
· A full and current New Zealand driver licence.
· A level of cultural competence in relation to tikanga Māori or the willingness to learn.
· Ability to demonstrate a whānau, hapū and marae centred approach in the work undertaken on behalf of the Settlement Trust.
