Deckhand - Passenger Ferry (Permanent)

About the role
Belaire Ferries' is seeking an experienced Deckhand to join our team. Based in West Harbour, Auckland, this is a permanent role within our passenger ferry services, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting the Master with the daily operations of the ferry, including mooring, unmooring, and line handling
- Performing routine maintenance and cleaning tasks on the vessel to maintain its condition and cleanliness
- Ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers, including providing assistance as needed
- Communicating effectively with the Master and shore-side team to coordinate operations
- Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations to protect the crew, passengers, and vessel
- Participating in emergency drills and assisting in the implementation of emergency procedures if required
What we're looking for
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Passenger Ferry Deckhand
- Strong knowledge of maritime safety procedures and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with passengers and crew
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fun and fast-paced environment
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform the required duties (Maritime Medical Cert)
- Qualified Deck Crew Certificate or equivalent qualification preferred
