The role of Coffee Trainer is a unique opportunity to work across 4 of New Zealand's most well know coffee brands; eighthirty, Mojo, Kōkako and Vivace. We are looking for a passionate coffee professional who loves inspiring other people and sharing their knowledge. They will be confident using industry standard equipment such as, La Marzocco, Slayer, Mazzer, Synesso, Mahlkonig, and Fiorenzato.
About the Role
Based out of our Roastery in Mount Eden. This role reports to our Head of Sales and collaborates closely with our Account Managers. You'll deliver hands on and engaging coffee sessions both at the Roastery and onsite with our cafe and wholesale partners. You'll also be expected to support our sales team with cuppings, coffee education activities and industry events. Occasionally you will also be expected to work in our cafes. A standard week will be 3 days, six training sessions (approx. two hours each) and around 20 hours of total work. Due to the nature of this position, we can be flexible around what days and when you book in your training sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high quality, thoughtful and engaging training sessions to our wholesale partners
Provide constructive, supportive and relevant feedback to help baristas build confidence, quality, speed and consistency
Be an ambassador for all our brands
Support the Sales and Account Management team with events and tastings
Contribute to our Roastery and café teams by being flexible and having a can-do attitude
About you
Must have a minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role (training, coaching, teaching)
A proven high level of specialty coffee barista experience and knowledge – from extraction to texturing and soft brew methods
Some understanding of espresso machine troubleshooting
Experience working with a variety of coffee machinery brands and tools
Excellent communication, organisation and time management
Must have a Full Clean NZ Drivers License
