What we are looking for
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to join OneReg's engineering team in New Zealand. This role will focus on functional testing, process improvement, and ensuring high-quality delivery of new features across our aviation compliance platform.
As part of OneReg's growing global team, the Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with developers, product stakeholders, customers, and implementation teams across New Zealand, Dubai, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys testing complex SaaS systems, improving processes, and helping teams ship reliable software quickly and confidently.
The ideal candidate will bring strong testing discipline, excellent communication skills, and a practical understanding of how to balance speed and quality in a fast-moving development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and execute functional and regression tests for new and existing features.
- Work closely with developers, product stakeholders, and customers to validate user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Establish and improve QA processes and test documentation, ensuring consistency across teams.
- Reproduce, document, and track defects with clarity and precision.
- Support release readiness, verifying production hot fixes and key deployments.
- Conduct exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.
- Collaborate with local and remote engineering teams to ensure timely and high-quality releases.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of our quality standards and release practices.
Qualifications:
- 3–6 years of hands-on software testing experience, ideally in SaaS or enterprise web applications.
- Strong background in functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
- Familiarity with test planning, defect tracking, and release verification processes.
- Experience using tools for managing test cases and defects.
- Proficiency with API testing tools (such as Postman or Swagger) and basic SQL for data validation.
- Understanding of AWS-hosted environments and containerised systems (ECS, RDS, Docker).
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Highly organised, methodical, and proactive in identifying and resolving quality issues.
- Based in New Zealand and able to work in a hybrid environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aviation, aviation compliance, or other critical or regulated systems.
- Familiarity with test automation concepts or frameworks such as Pytest, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
- Experience helping teams adopt or refine QA practices in growing engineering organisations.
Personal Attributes
- Detail-focused with a commitment to quality and reliability.
- Proactive and adaptable, comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving product environment.
- Strong collaborator who enjoys working across functions, time zones, and with customers.
- Clear communicator who can translate complex technical findings into actionable insights.
Why Join OneReg?
- Be part of a mission-driven team shaping the future of aviation compliance technology.
- Collaborate with talented colleagues in New Zealand, Dubai, the UK, and the EU.
- Work with a modern, cloud-based tech stack and flexible hybrid model.
- Join a supportive culture with competitive compensation and opportunities for professional growth.
