Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders. We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across more than 80 locations — from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities. Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

As a Medical Imaging Technologist, you'll play a vital role in transforming healthcare through advanced diagnostics, compassionate patient care, and clinical innovation. You will provide general medical imaging services to people across Aotearoa, working as part of a dynamic radiology team that supports various departments and services.

We are looking to recruit for a range of MIT roles across New Zealand, at varying levels of experience, including for new graduates.

About You

To succeed in this role as a Medical Imaging Technologist, you will have a Bachelor of Health Science (Medical Imaging) or an equivalent qualification. You must also be registered with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

Our ideal MIT is confident in radiographic positioning and demonstrates initiative during procedures, making informed decisions based on anatomical knowledge and current best practices. You will understand and accurately operate imaging equipment, follow protocols, recognise and correct faults, and maintain high standards in image processing. Your approach will be agile and open to innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

We also have opportunities suitable for new graduate MITs, who may still be building these skills and would strongly encourage you to apply if you are early in or new to practice as an MIT.

Working at Health New Zealand

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand. We embrace a workforce that is diverse and inclusive so that we are better positioned to understand and serve our community. We welcome applications from our diverse Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.

This opportunity will connect you to future Health NZ roles across all our services.

This opportunity offers a pathway to future roles within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora across a wide range of services. If you've already applied for a Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) position, there's no need to reapply for that specific role or programme. However, applying here will ensure you're considered for any additional MIT opportunities that may arise beyond those you've already applied for.
