Mo te tunga | About the role
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be part of the inpatient unit nursing team. You will be guided by Registered Nurses to provide care to patients. Your duties will include:
- Assisting with showers and other personal cares
- Helping patients to eat
- Making beds and managing linen
- Sitting with patients for comfort and support
- General tidying of the unit
This role is for 32 hours per fortnight, or 8 shifts over 14 days. We run morning shifts from 8:30 am – 12 :30 pm, and afternoon shifts from 5 pm – 9 pm.

As someone with recent Healthcare Assistant experience, either in a New Zealand hospital or aged care setting, you understand that it is the little things that make all the difference to patients, whanau and families. You will bring to this role:
- A caring nature with a positive and mature attitude
- Attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise your workload
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to your work
- A genuine interest in palliative care
You must also have a level of fitness to be able to meet the physical demands of the role.
