Salt N Pepper Cafe currently seeking Chefs, Cooks, and Kitchen Hands to join our team.

Chefs Job duties of the position offered–

  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • Preparing and cooking food
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
  • May select and train staff
  • May freeze and preserve foods

Requirements of the position offered -

  • Either minimum 1 year of work experience, or relevant level 2 or 3 qualification
  • Be available to work on weekends and public holidays as per the roster
  • Flexibility to work within a 7-Days a week operation including split shifts
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with good communication skills and team spirit

Cook Job duties of the position offered–

  • Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality - Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment - Seasoning food during cooking - Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes - Storing food in temperature controlled facilities - Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements - May plan menus and estimate food requirements - May train other kitchen staff and apprentices - Preparing and cooking food Requirements of the position offered -

Kitchen Hand duties of the position offered–

  • Wash utensils, dishes and return to the kitchen and make sure they are stored appropriately.
  • Clean food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas.
  • packing food and beverage trays for serving
  • Dispose of rubbish.
  • Follow all hygiene and Health and Safety regulations within the kitchen. Food Preparation
  • Assist the Chef in the preparation and cooking of food, as required.
  • Follow direction toward portion control, cooking standards and wastage
  • Maintain a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen at all times.
  • Handle, sort, store and distribute food items.
  • Follow instructions from the Chef or nominee.
  • Any other duties the employer may reasonably require.

Requirements of the position offered - This role is an entry level position with no qualifications, skills and experience required as all training will be provided on the job.
