ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role will be responsible for pioneering Rocket Lab's AI capabilities, and will design, develop, and deploy innovative machine learning solutions that enhance operational efficiency and technological advancement across the organization.

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will lead the implementation of custom AI models using proprietary data, establish scalable infrastructure, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and capitalize on emerging AI opportunities that support Rocket Lab's space missions and business objectives.

YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related field


• 5+ years of experience in relevant industry


• Low level experience and deep understanding of AI/ML fundamentals


• Up-to-date knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their trends, including various libraries and tools


• The ability to develop and maintain relationships with a broad range of people of varying backgrounds, and to be adept at engaging with those people


• Experience with modern databases, cloud environments, and data ecosystems


• Experience defining large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders


• Sound analytical skills – able to see the big picture, make connections and appropriate decisions

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:


•      Experience deploying ML solutions to edge implementations, like embedded systems with GPUs


•      Strong background in software


•      Relevant aerospace industry experience

Salary dependent upon experience: between NZD$ 140,000- NZD$ 180,000.
