About the role | Ko te mahi nei

As the Lead Recreation & Sports Planner you will focus on the planning and delivery of the capital programme for the Recreation, Sports and Events Unit while also leading the Recreation & Sport Asset Planner to ensure facilities remain fit for purpose over their design life at optimum cost to the council.

The role will see you plan an extensive and diverse suite of recreation and sport facilities and services to ensure the successful delivery of agreed levels of service and the requirements of challenging business plans. Key responsibilites include:

  • Planning and development of the capital programme for the Recreation, Sports and Events Unit
  • Supporting the delivery of the Recreation, Sport and Events Units capital programme
  • Supporting continuous improvement of the Recreation, Sport and Events Asset Management Plan.

About you | Ko Koe Tēnei

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum of nine years' experience in facility management or planning within a large facility.
  • Strong levels of motivation, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Excellent planning & time management skills
  • Experience of local government or facilities planning and asset management
  • Previous experience in project management

  • Hours of work: Monday - Friday
  • Position: Full-time, fixed-term position until 19 March 2027, covering parental leave.
  • Location: This role will be based at Parakiore Recreation & Sports Centre three days per week, with the remaining time spent at other facilities or working from home.
  • Salary: Salary to be discussed with the successful applicant.
