Senior Data Engineer - 3 month contract, likely to extend.

We are looking for a senior data engineer to work on a contract basis to build out a data model across multiple systems, to create a single source of truth for a very important aspect of their business.

The business is a New Zealand success story, operating as a large private enterprise with lots of working parts. They have a high performing culture (this does not mean 18 hour days) and some of the best technologists in New Zealand.

The objective of the contract is to provide a single, reliable foundation for AI agents, automation and analytics and to provide a clear definition for workflows used in this area of the business.

You will be building this model in preparation for the use of scalable AI agents providing accurate and trusted context.

What we are looking for

Good experience as a senior data engineer at an enterprise level

Discovery and requirements gathering experience.

Experience building data models using data drawn from varying sources in an enterprise environment.

Knowledge of dimensional data modelling.

Snowflake experience.

DBT.

GIT driven development experience.

Strong and demonstrable documentation skills.

Negotiable contract rate, start as soon as available, will consider 4 week notice periods for the right person.

Can be based in anywhere in New Zealand, more details can be provided on application and suitability.
