Stockperson – Palmerston Otago

Join Zeagold, New Zealand's largest egg producer, and play a key role in supporting the day-to-day care of our birds across a modern, well-run poultry farm. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys routine, hands-on work and being part of a supportive team.

About the Role

You'll help maintain bird health, ensure smooth shed operations, and support the automated egg-handling systems. The work is steady, structured, and meaningful, with full training provided.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Daily bird checks across colony and barn sheds
  • Monitoring feed, water and automated equipment
  • Removing mortalities and preparing them for collection
  • General shed housekeeping and following cleaning schedules
  • Supporting egg flow to the grading room
  • Weekend and rostered shifts, including covering checks around the farm
  • Assisting with automated manure removal (approx. 10 trucks per week)

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable, consistent, and committed
  • Calm and able to problem-solve
  • Practical, hands-on, and comfortable working independently at times
  • A strong communicator who works well in a team

Previous poultry or farming experience is helpful but not essential — attitude comes first.
