College House is an independent residential college at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand.

The chefs at College House are key members of the support team engaged in the life of College House and responsible for assisting in the food service for our students and staff.

We are seeking a mature and experienced chef to join our team at College House. The successful candidate will be organised, clean, and professional, maintaining consistently high standards of hygiene and kitchen management.

This role requires a versatile chef with experience across a range of kitchen settings, including bulk catering, baking, and restaurant-style cooking. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently and confidently during sole shifts, demonstrating reliability, initiative, and sound decision-making.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are essential, as the chef will provide guidance and set a positive example for our kitchen assistants.

We are looking for someone who will embrace and uphold our values, contributing to a respectful, supportive, and collaborative team culture within the College House community.

Work Days and hours

  • Wednesday - Sunday 10.30am - 7.00pm The position is a contract positions during university terms. (Approx 34 weeks) Other work may be available in the summer holiday period for conferences and functions. Position to start on approximately February 8th 2026
