The Role

We're seeking a motivated individual, ideally with boating experience, to join our team as a Boat Dek Sales and Templating Technician. This is a hands-on sales position that involves working with trade and retail customers nationwide. You'll handle templating, some CAD design, and installation, while coordinating with customers to meet deadlines and traveling across New Zealand as needed.

The key responsibilities of the role will include:

Manage customer enquiries from initial contact through to completion, including templating, quoting and installation of marine decking solutions.

Coordinate with both retail and trade customers, maintaining clear communication, meeting deadlines and monitoring progress to deliver seamless service.

Primary Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Enquiries:

• Field incoming retail enquiries, including measuring, templating, quoting, and installing marine decking.

• Field incoming trade enquiries, meeting customer deadlines with onsite templating and monitoring the production schedule to keep customers informed.

Boat Templating and Digitization

• Visit boats at off-site locations to accurately template the deck using industry-specific digital templating tools.
• Create manual templates where necessary.
• Create digital files (.dxf) of Boat Dek measurements for design and manufacturing processes.
• Training can be provided.

Design File Cleanup

• Clean up and refine template outlines (.dxf files) so they can be passed on to the design team.

Design and Kit Development

• Use design software to contribute to the creation of final Boat Dek kits.
• Participate in the design process, ensuring that the final product aligns with customer needs and company standards.

Design Installation

• Install Boat Dek kits, ensuring they meet quality standards and customer expectations.

Dealer Visits and Boat Shows

• Visit dealers to promote products and services.
• Represent the company at boat shows and industry events to showcase offerings and build relationships.

Hours

• Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 3:00pm

To be successful in the role, you will require:

A Genuine Interest in Boating:

Passion for marine activities and boat knowledge to connect with customers on recreational, fishing, or commercial needs. Prior industry experience is a plus, but enthusiasm is key for building rapport and solutions.

Excellent Time Management Skills:

Ability to handle multiple nationwide projects, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines without quality loss. Coordinate templating, quoting, installations, and follow-ups while traveling, with strong organization and adaptability.

A Proven Track Record of Strong Customer Service:

Experience delivering top service, from empathetic initial handling to quick resolutions and satisfaction. Emphasize communication, listening, and a customer-focused approach for lasting retail/trade relationships.

Physical Fitness for Hands-On Work:

Capacity for demanding tasks like on-site deck templating (bending, lifting, measuring) in indoor/outdoor settings. Comfort with tools, safety gear, and weather variations for safe, efficient work.

Proficient in Computer Tools:

Strong skills in Microsoft Officing suite, including Outlook and Calendar for efficient email management, scheduling, and coordination.

Experience with CAD software is advantageous for Templating and design tasks.
