Are you passionate about working with rural communities and bringing people together for positive environmental outcomes? The West Coast Farm Plan Project is seeking a Catchments Coordinator to connect farmers with catchment initiatives and support community-led solutions for freshwater management.

The Opportunity

This independent contractor role offers the chance to work across the stunning West Coast region, building relationships with catchment groups, farmers, and stakeholders. You'll support collaborative approaches to freshwater management and biodiversity planning.

Duration: Fixed term until Dec 2026

Hours: ~30 hours per week (flexible arrangements)

Rate: Attractive contract rate based on skills and experience

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain relationships with catchment groups and farmers across the region
  • Work with stakeholders to align project and regional initiatives
  • Support farmers with biodiversity assessments and action planning
  • Document successes and contribute to project reporting

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Understanding of catchment processes and freshwater management
  • Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in community engagement or coordination
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle (travel reimbursed)

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of West Coast catchments and communities
  • Networks within West Coast farming sector
  • Understanding of Regional Council planning processes

You're an excellent communicator who thrives on bringing people together. You work well independently, are diplomatic in navigating different perspectives, and are flexible and responsive to community needs. Digital literacy and organisational skills are important, but your passion for community engagement is what will make you successful.
