Vending Direct is New Zealand's largest and fastest-growing vending operator, servicing over 2000 machines across Auckland alone. As we continue to scale nationally, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Auckland region.


The Opportunity

This is a senior operational leadership role overseeing the full Auckland operation: warehousing, inventory, fulfilment, routing, servicing, customer experience, and staff leadership.

You will manage a high-performing team of Drivers/Fillers, Warehouse Staff, and an Admin Assistant, ensuring our vending network across Auckland operates efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard.

What You'll Be Responsible For
Operational Leadership
  • Lead day-to-day operations across warehousing, stock management, route planning, and machine servicing.
  • Ensure machines are consistently stocked, maintained, and operating at maximum uptime.
  • Oversee vehicle fleet coordination and work with Technical Services on equipment servicing and safety compliance.
  • Manage food safety processes for all fridges, freezers, and temperature-controlled equipment.
Supply Chain & Fulfilment
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, warehousing, and stock distribution.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and replenishment strategies.
  • Drive efficiency and reduce wastage across the network.
Team Leadership
  • Lead a team of 40+ across fulfilment, warehouse, and administration.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and service excellence.
  • Implement training, development, and consistent performance standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews and coaching to ensure KPIs are achieved.
Client, Customer & Supplier Relationships
  • Act as regional escalation point for customer issues.
  • Support the Sales Team to ensure new sites are delivered, filled, and operational on time.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and product quality.
Financial & KPI Management
  • Monitor operational metrics including sales, stock variances, route efficiencies, and fulfilment accuracy.
  • Deliver operational improvements that lift profitability and customer experience.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, H&S legislation, and industry standards.
  • Drive a strong safety culture; lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular audits on stock handling, cash collection, machine compliance, and workplace safety.

What You Will Bring
  • Proven experience in operations, supply chain, or logistics management (FMCG/retail preferred).
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing, distribution, and inventory management.
  • Experience with food safety standards (HACCP desirable).
  • Strong commercial acumen with KPI management experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with operational software (VMP advantageous).
  • Ability to support hands-on tasks when required (site audits, stock handling).
