Job Description The Opportunity We're on the hunt for a Divisional Manager to join the Fulton Hogan Central Otago team, based in our Alexandra office. In this role, you'll be a key member of a solid and supportive divisional leadership team. Our NZTA road maintenance, CODC road maintenance, Landscaping and Roadmarking business units are critical to the long-term success of our region. As we negotiate to renew our NZTA road maintenance contract for another term, we're seeking a new leader to take this division to the next level. Reporting to the Executive Divisional Manager – Infrastructure, you'll lead your functions and oversee day-to-day operations, supporting your management team to achieve consistently high safety, environmental, and financial performance, while delivering satisfaction to both clients and staff. You will be a natural people leader, motivated by challenge and change, with a background in the civil construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial management, including Opex, Capex, and contracts
  • People leadership
  • Contract management support
  • Operational management: enhancing productivity and creating centres of excellence
  • Key stakeholder engagement and customer relationships
  • Compliance across all HSQES functions (supported by in-house specialists)
On a day-to-day basis, you'll balance core operational requirements with longer-term strategic initiatives, such as:
  • Leading a safety-first approach, aligned with Fulton Hogan's 'Living Safely' culture
  • Developing a high-performing team culture
  • Structuring the team to deliver outputs efficiently and effectively
  • Providing contractual and commercial oversight of maintenance and other contracts under your responsibility
  • Driving continuous operational and financial improvement
  • Proactively collaborating with internal business streams
  • Overseeing the pricing, tendering, and securing of forward work to maintain divisional performance
  • Effective customer relationship management
  • Demonstrating and leading a commitment to sustainability across operations
We're looking for someone with solid experience in civil construction or road maintenance, along with the interpersonal skills that make you a great leader and team member. You'll have experience in people and contract leadership, comprehensive financial management (revenue, expected margin, procurement, cost control, and WIP), and a commitment to safety leadership. Relevant tertiary qualifications and the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels are essential. Benefits:
