Auckland CBD, New Zealand AcademyEX Education Ltd Full time NZ$80,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

Are you more than just an academic? Are you a mentor, a guide, and a catalyst for change? At academyEX, we're looking for someone special to join our mission.

We believe in the transformative power of education, and we're searching for a Postgraduate Director who shares our passion for guiding working professionals on a journey of discovery. This isn't just a job; it's a calling. It's for someone who finds joy in seeing students connect with their learning, challenge their own thinking, and grow into the leaders of tomorrow.

About Us

At academyEX, we're redefining postgraduate education. We cater to working professionals, offering them the tools to navigate the complexities of the modern world through our Master of Technological Futures (MTF) and Master of Change and Organisational Resilience (MCOR) programmes. We are a team of innovators and forward-thinkers, and we pride ourselves on creating a learning environment that is both challenging and deeply supportive.

The Role

As a Postgraduate Director, you'll play a vital role in pragmatically supporting and empowering postgraduate learners in the Master of Technological Futures (MTF) and Master of Change and Organisational Resilience (MCOR) programmes.

You'll focus on helping students succeed through academic coaching, guidance, and engaging facilitation—both online and in person. Working closely with Programme Leads and the academic team, you'll design and deliver learning experiences that build confidence, capability, and connection. You'll also provide academic skills support, facilitate and host workshops, supervise student projects, and create resources that strengthen learner success.

This role is centred on fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments that help every student thrive, reflecting the learner-first values of academyEX.

You will:

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support and guidance to postgraduate learners through one-to-one coaching, small-group sessions, and ongoing engagement across the learning journey.
  • Facilitate engaging, interactive learning sessions (both online and in-person) that build learner confidence, connection, and applied capability.
  • Support and collaborate with Programme Leads and the wider academic team to design and deliver dynamic, learner-centred educational experiences.
  • Support student success through academic skills development, including research design, academic writing, and critical thinking.
  • Implement academic support workshops and create digital and in-person learning resources to strengthen learner engagement and achievement.
  • Support, supervise and mentor postgraduate students as they develop and deliver practice-based projects or research outputs.
  • Mark and provide formative and summative feedback on assessments that foster deep learning and professional growth.
  • Act as an internal moderator when required, contributing to consistency, fairness, and shared understanding of assessment expectations.
  • Build and maintain inclusive, supportive learning environments grounded in trust, collaboration, and respect for diverse learner backgrounds
  • Contribute to programme improvement by sharing learner insights and supporting innovation in delivery and facilitation practices.
  • Model culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices that reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and diverse learner needs.
  • Participate in academic quality assurance, professional development, and innovation in delivery models.

About You:

We are looking for a truly unique individual. You are an academic at heart, but you are also a people person.

Experience

  • Skilled in supporting adult or postgraduate learners through academic coaching, supervision, or facilitation.
  • Experienced in designing and delivering engaging learning across online, blended, and in-person formats.
  • Confident contributing to academic and professional events (e.g., conferences, symposia) and supporting learners through complex research or applied projects.
  • Familiar with assessment and moderation processes in tertiary or professional education.
  • Able to develop and deliver high-quality academic resources and skills-based workshops.
  • Collaborative and experienced in contributing to programme delivery within academic teams.

Skills & Knowledgeable

  • Strong in adult learning principles, learner engagement, and applied/experiential learning.
  • An excellent facilitator with the ability to build authentic relationships with diverse learners.
  • Skilled in academic coaching, constructive feedback, and empowering learner independence.
  • Knowledgeable in research methods, academic writing, and postgraduate study expectations.
  • Committed to inclusive, culturally responsive practice aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Confident managing multiple teaching, support, and supervision responsibilities across modes of delivery.
  • Proficient with digital tools and platforms (LMS, Miro, Padlet, Zoom, collaborative apps).
