Job Description
Te Tūranga / About the Role:
Based in Balclutha, this is a great opportunity for a hands-on tradesperson to play a key role in keeping our plant operating safely and efficiently. You'll be responsible for the electrical repair, maintenance, and improvement of equipment across our diverse site—ensuring production downtime is minimised and plant reliability is maximised. With a wide variety of equipment and facilities, no two days will be the same, and you'll have the opportunity to broaden your skills and experience in a supportive team environment.

Our engineering team works on a 4/4 roster: four 12-hour days, four days off, four 12-hour nights, then four days off. This balance allows time for both proactive maintenance and troubleshooting while also giving you regular stretches of time off.

We're looking for an experienced electrician who can think on their feet, troubleshoot effectively, and work well as part of a tight-knit team. Food process or industrial experience would be ideal, but above all, you'll have the right trade skills, a proactive approach, and the drive to get the job done.

Skills And Attributes We Value

• Current New Zealand EWRB Electrical Practicing License (essential)
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and industrial plant maintenance (FMCG experience an advantage)
• Ability to diagnose and repair faults quickly and safely
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team
• Well organised, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
• Adhere to and promote health and safety standards and practices
• Perform programmed electrical maintenance tasks as scheduled
• Respond to repair and breakdown maintenance requests promptly
• Ensure food compliance standards are met in all electrical systems and processes
• Collaborate with other maintenance teams to coordinate integrated maintenance activities
• Conduct regular inspections and identify potential electrical issues
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all electrical maintenance activities
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in electrical maintenance
• Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as an Electrician is essential
• Experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably in a food production environment
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and maintenance practices
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
• Physical ability to perform tasks in a production environment
• Willingness to undergo relevant training and development opportunities
• A commitment to health and safety standards
