About Ō2NL:

The Ōtaki to north of Levin (Ō2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience, and efficiency, as well as increasing transport choices for the area's growing population. The Ō2NL project is led in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muaūpoko Tribal Authority, local hapū of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga and council partner Horowhenua District Council.

This transformative project is being delivered using a two-alliance approach, with each alliance delivering a section of the road and associated works. Together alliance partners are working to create a positive legacy for the region, led by our project principles to tread lightly with the whenua and create an enduring legacy. We are seeking excellent people for this unique opportunity to work and collaborate with leading industry organisations.

This is an on-site opportunity based in Ōtaki. The Ō2NL South Alliance is committed to employing local talent and creating opportunities where careers can grow. kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

In this role, you'll support the planning and delivery of structural works across the Ō2NL South Alliance - this includes bridge construction, piling, precast installation, ground improvement, and associated civil infrastructure.

Acting as a key link between the Structures team, you'll ensure that daily site activities align with programme targets, design specifications, quality standard, and health and safety requirements. Beyond site delivery, you'll also contribute to project success through involvement in planning, procurement, progress reporting, and coordination across disciplines - working with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent.
  • Experience in civil construction with a strong focus on structural delivery, including bridges, piling, and precast elements.
  • Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and cross-disciplinary coordination across multiple work fronts.
  • Solid knowledge of NZ H&S legislation with a proven ability to reinforce safe behaviours and lead by example on site.
  • Familiar with project controls, QA/QC systems, and digital tools such as Aconex and MS Project.
  • Clear and confident communicator with strong interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and proactive under pressure, with good attention to detail and time management.
  • Culturally respectful and committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
