As our Electrical Inspector, you'll make sure electrical installations across Waipā meet the highest safety standards, comply with regulations, and support a reliable power supply for everyone who depends on us.

What the role involves

You'll make sure electrical installations across our network are safe, compliant and ready for connection. Your mahi will include:

  • Verifying that installations meet electrical safety codes and regulations
  • Carrying out inspections, identifying hazards and issuing compliance or non-compliance notices
  • Conducting pre-connection and reconnection checks, issuing ROIs and certifications
  • Installing and testing meters
  • Testing and livening supply to properties
  • Working closely with electricians, contractors and energy retailers
  • Supporting technical investigations and helping resolve complex customer issues
  • Keeping accurate records, reports and documentation.

About you

You'll bring sound judgement, technical confidence and a real commitment to doing things safely. You'll have:

  • Registration as an Electrical Inspector (meeting EWRB standards)
  • Ideally, one or more years' experience as an Electrical Inspector
  • High-voltage experience (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical regulations and best practices
  • Great communication skills – you'll work with contractors, customers and internal teams
  • Sharp attention to detail and calmness under pressure
  • A team-first mindset and the integrity to uphold our values every day.
