Auckland CBD, New Zealand Fullers Group Ltd Full time NZ$80,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

Join a purpose-driven team keeping Auckland connected across the Hauraki Gulf. At Fullers360, we operate a world-class ferry fleet and we're looking for a skilled and proactive Electrician to join our Marine Assets team in a fast-paced, hands-on response role.

About us

Fullers360 has been connecting Aucklanders and visitors to the Hauraki Gulf for over 40 years.  With a team of 350+ and a fleet of high-speed ferries and modern buses, we proudly serve nearly 6 million passengers a year—getting commuters to work and visitors to explore.

Our Waiheke Bus Company introduced Auckland's first electric bus fleet, and we're proud to be project managing the build of Auckland's first hybrid-electric fast ferries.  Sustainability, community, and a down-to-earth culture are at the heart of everything we do.

About the role:

As an R&R Electrician, you'll be at the front line of keeping our fleet operational.  You'll respond quickly to electrical faults on active vessels, often in high-pressure environments where access is limited and time is critical.  Working as part of a shift-based team, you'll carry out accurate diagnostics and high-quality repairs that restore service and minimise disruption.

Beyond immediate fixes, you'll play a key role in long-term fleet reliability, identifying root causes, contributing to preventative strategies, and helping to integrate advanced vessel technologies.  This is a highly collaborative role, where success depends on strong communication with vessel crews, engineers, and Marine Assets leadership, all underpinned by a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key duties

  • Respond quickly and effectively to electrical faults across our fleet to minimise service disruptions.
  • Perform real-time diagnostics and electrical repairs on vessels under time pressure and with limited access.
  • Apply expertise across power distribution, propulsion, navigation, HVAC, alarms, and more.
  • Contribute to smarter preventative and predictive maintenance strategies using data insights and condition monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with vessel crews, engineers, and shift teams to maintain operational continuity.
  • Support a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Work on a 4-on / 4-off roster covering early morning to late-night operational hours (05:30–23:30).

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • Must hold a recognised New Zealand trade qualification in Electrical Maintenance or Engineering (NZQA/NZCE or equivalent)
  • AND hold a current practicing licence issued by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB)
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic expertise—especially in time-critical situations
  • Confidence in assessing operational risks and making informed, real-time decisions
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to adapt and prioritise in a dynamic environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills, especially when translating technical issues to non-technical teams

It's a bonus if you also have:

  • Experience working in marine, transport, or other high-availability operational environments
  • Familiarity with systems such as PLCs, propulsion control, battery storage, or vessel monitoring
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring tools and predictive maintenance technologies
  • Experience in shift-based or 24/7 operations, ideally in a fast-paced setting

About our benefits and perks

  • Free ferry travel for work and leisure for our full-time permanent employees
  • Annua flu shots and EAP (employee assistance program)
  • Free basic skin check at Molemap (valued at $200)
  • Access to discounted gym memberships (Auckland Council) and discounted healthcare (Southern Cross)
  • Discount at SpecSavers for employees and their family

Please note:

*Candidates must have the right to work in NZ to be considered for this role.

*Any information you provide will be used to evaluate your suitability to this position. We will hold onto your details for any future opportunities unless asked otherwise.
