About the Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Exercise Physiologistto join our multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting older adults and individuals with chronic conditions to improve their physical function, independence, and overall wellbeing.
This full-time role (40 hours per week) offers a salary commensurate with experience.
In this role, you will:
- Use your clinical expertise to assess, design, and delivery tailored exercise programs for residents with varying health needs.
- Work collaboratively with physiotherapists, an occupational therapist, GPs, Registered Nurses, and other professionals to deliver integrated care.
- Support residents and their families through education, guidance, and evidence-based interventions that improve long-term health outcomes.
**Key Responsibilities:
- Resident Assessment*** Conduct comprehensive assessments, including cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, and functional capacity.
* Review medical histories and interpret clinical data to inform exercise prescription.
2. Program Development* Design and implement safe and effective individual and group exercise programs tailored to resident needs.
* Adapt programs for chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory conditions, and musculoskeletal injuries.
3. Monitoring & Evaluation* Monitor resident progress and adjust programs based on reassessment outcomes.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional standards.
4. Education & Support* Educate residents and families on exercise techniques, health benefits, and lifestyle modifications.
* Provide guidance on injury prevention, recovery, and long-term wellness.
5. Collaboration & Communication* Work closely with the wider clinical team to delivery holistic, person-centred care.
* Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings.
6. Diagnostic Testing* Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests such as submaximal / maximal assessments, ECG monitoring, and metabolic testing.
7. Community & Wellness Initiatives* Delivery group programs supporting community or workplace health initiatives.
* Promotes physical activity through workshops and wellness education.
About You - You will bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Sport Science, or a related field.
- Accreditation with Exercise & Sports Science New Zealand (ESSNZ) or equivalent.
- Experience in rehabilitation, chronic disease management, or aged care (preferred).
- Strong assessments, analytical, and documentation skills.
- A resident-centred approach and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative clinical environment.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
