Estimator/QS

Our client is a well-established and growing construction company delivering a diverse portfolio of high-quality projects across the Southern Lakes region. Projects range from architecturally designed homes and multi-unit developments through to commercial fit-outs and light commercial builds - typically between $3 million and $25 million.

We are seeking an experienced Estimator who thrives in the pre-construction phase but is also comfortable stepping into the quantity surveying (QS) space when required. You'll play a key role in shaping early project outcomes - from concept budgets and value engineering through to detailed tender submissions and cost planning.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, tender submissions, and pricing schedules for projects across residential and commercial sectors.
• Work closely with design and project teams during the pre-construction phase to develop budgets, assess risks, and explore buildability solutions.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and maintain competitive cost databases.
• Provide value-engineering input and assist with cost planning during design development.
• Support the project delivery team post-award with cost tracking, variations, and progress claims when required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems, templates, and cost data.

• 5+ years' experience in construction estimating - ideally within a main contractor / building company (not purely consultancy).
• Solid understanding of both residential and commercial construction methodologies.
• Experience with architectural homes, multi-unit residential, or fit-out projects.
• Comfortable handling project values between $2M - $25M.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to work across both estimating and QS functions.
• Proficient in estimating software and Excel-based cost modelling.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with designers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
