We are a busy café located in Newmarket, Auckland, looking for an experienced

and dedicated baker to join our kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for bakers

who are passionate about great food, work well under pressure, and thrive in a fast-

paced café environment.

Job Description:

The working hours will be a minimum of 30 hours per week, we offer an hourly rate of

$23.50 to $24.00 for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, mix, and bake products in accordance with established recipes and production schedules.
  • Operate and maintain baking machinery, ovens, mixers, and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor dough development, proving, baking times, and product quality to ensure consistency, texture, and presentation standards are met.
  • Plan and develop new bakery items, including seasonal and specialty products, considering ingredient availability, customer demand, and cost-efficiency.
  • Measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients accurately to meet daily production requirements.
  • Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, conduct regular stocktakes, and place orders to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients to maintain freshness and comply with food safety standards.
  • Train, guide, and supervise junior baking or kitchen staff in baking techniques, food safety, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, and compliant bakery environment by following the Food Control Plan and all food safety regulations.
  • Identify and manage workplace health and safety risks, ensuring safe work practices and contributing to a secure working environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Baker, preferably in a café or similar setting
  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays
  • Reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for quality food and excellent customer service
