The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, based in Manukau and working across South Auckland.

As a Peer Support Worker, you'll draw on your own lived experience to build authentic relationships and offer hope and encouragement to people on their recovery and housing journey. You'll support individuals with high and complex needs and co-existing challenges, including intergenerational hardship, mental health issues, addiction, and trauma.

Your mahi will be grounded in the Housing First philosophy, helping people find and sustain stable housing in the community. You'll work both collaboratively within a team and independently when needed, so confidence, initiative, and a strong sense of connection are key.

This is an opportunity to extend your skills and experience in the areas of housing and wellbeing, while being part of an innovative and expanding service where lived experience is valued, fresh ideas are welcomed, and creative solutions are the norm.

We're looking for a caring and reliable Peer Support Worker to join our team and support kiritaki who are experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges. Your lived experience and understanding can help others find hope, stability, and connection. You'll have experience of homelessness and mental health and/or addiction challenges yourself, understand recovery and trauma-informed ways of working, and be able to build good relationships with people from different backgrounds. A Peer Support qualification is essential, along with good communication, teamwork skills, and a commitment to fairness and respect for everyone.

  • Build trust through shared lived experience
  • Support access to housing, mental health services, and community resources
