We're seeking a confident and experienced Class 4 Driver to join our Timaru team. This is a hands-on, highly active role where you'll operate a range of modern trucks and equipment to deliver essential services across the wider Timaru region and surrounding areas such as Ashburton through to Mt Cook.

You'll complete safe and timely collections, specialised service work, and scheduled deliveries while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Tasks will include loading, transporting, and unloading various materials—including some hazardous waste—ensuring correct disposal processes at designated sites.

This is a full-time permanent role (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, approx. 4.45am-1.30pm) with occasional Saturday work and opportunities for additional hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Class 4 vehicles across multiple systems (front-load, skip, hook, rear-load).
  • Early morning starts (before 5am), supporting a busy commercial site with high truck movement.
  • Complete daily vehicle checks, digital safety inspections, and logbook entries using Ipad system.
  • Travel to a range of customers including commercial manufacturers and construction sites.
  • Safely handle, transport, and unload materials including hazardous waste (full training provided).
  • Use tablets for job allocation and communication.
  • Maintain strong focus on health & safety at all times.
  • Provide friendly, reliable customer service and operate independently with confidence.

Skills & Experience

  • Clean, valid Class 4 licence (Class 5, WTR and DG endorsements a bonus).
  • Physically fit and comfortable with a busy, hands-on role.
  • Strong spatial awareness—able to "line it up" accurately the first time.
  • Able to work unsupervised and manage a high workload.
  • Good communication and paperwork skills; tablet experience preferred.
  • WTR endorsement an advantage (in-house loader training available).
  • Customer-focused, reliable, and adaptable.
  • Open to learning new systems and supporting a small, tight-knit team.

The Timaru operation is a busy commercial site with 11 staff, multiple truck types, national retail clients, high daily movement, and occasional subcontractor coordination. The team values reliability, safety, teamwork, and a positive attitude.\
