Fiordland Discovery is searching for a talented Chef to join the crew of the Fiordland Jewel, our overnight vessel based in Milford Sound.

This is not a standard galley role. It's about creating dining experiences that match the breathtaking landscapes our guests have come to see.

About us

We are a small family owned and operated New Zealand tourism business, offering high-end overnight and lunch cruises in Milford Sound over the summer season, plus adventure cruising in Fiordland in other months of the year.

The Role

·       Deliver a beautifully presented set menu daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner

·       Ensure consistency and excellence, while allowing your creativity and personality to shine through in every dish.

·       Run the galley independently – from prep and plating to ordering and presentation (sole charge)

·       Engage with guests and bring a warm, personal touch to the dining experience

·       Collaborate with a close-knit crew to deliver seamless hospitality

·       Roster: 7 nights living aboard, then 7 nights off

·       Fixed Term until end of April. There may be a chance to continue in the role – to be discussed with the successful applicant

About You

·       A qualified chef with experience in boutique hospitality

·       Passionate about presentation and flavour, with an eye for detail

·       Confident working solo, organised, and self-sufficient

·       A natural host who enjoys connecting with guests in a genuine, welcoming way

·       Comfortable working and living on board a vessel in a remote location

·       Preference given to those with own arrangements for accommodation in Otago/Southland area during rostered week off
