Group Shared Services aims to integrate common functions across the council group, eliminating duplication and ensuring consistent, high-quality shared services.

We have an exciting Permanent Full-Time opportunity, for a proactive, analytical thinker to join the Operations & Technology Procurement team within Group Shared Services.

As a Procurement Specialist, you'll support Category Leads in developing and executing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and identifying cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and negotiation. You will also be leading end-to-end procurement activities and projects. You'll turn data into actionable insights to influence decision-making and help deliver best value-for-money outcomes that integrate sustainable and social procurement objectives.

This role is ideal for someone with a growth mindset who is adaptable, collaborative, and keen to contribute to a high-performing, influential procurement function. You'll work closely with internal customers, co-located teams, and external suppliers to support a dynamic procurement environment.

This role will be based in our Albert Street office, Auckland CBD.

You'll bring experience in procurement, business analysis, or commercial roles within large, complex, and potentially politically sensitive organisations.

What we're looking for:

• Strong critical mindset, with experience interpreting data to generate insights that inform commercial and procurement decisions.
• Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate insights and influence stakeholders effectively.
• Procurement experience is an advantage but not essential; attitude, adaptability, and potential are highly valued.
• Understanding of sustainable and social procurement objectives is desirable.
• Tertiary qualification in procurement, business, or related discipline preferred.
