We're looking for part-time and casual Support Workers to join our team These roles require broad availability six days a week, to support clients in their homes and out in the community. Because of the nature of the work, we welcome applications from people living in Lincoln, Oxford and Rangiora or surrounding areas.

Hours and Days of Work

We have several clients requiring support across Christchurch and surrounding areas. Please indicate in your CV or cover letter which location(s) you are applying for.

Lincoln Client:

  • Morning and evening shifts required.
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday — 10:00am to 5:00pm.
  • 21 guaranteed hours per week.

Oxford Client:

  • Evening and weekend availability required.
  • Monday and Tuesday — 9:00am to 7:00pm.
  • 10 guaranteed hours per week.

Rangiora Client:

  • This is a complex care client requiring bowel cares. Previous experience is preferred, however full training will be provided.
  • Morning shifts required.
  • Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday between 7:15am to 12:45pm
  • 15 guaranteed hours per week

Central Christchurch Client – Casual Experienced Support Workers:

  • These are complex clients requiring bowel and spinal cares
  • Casual - mornings, afternoons, and night shifts available
  • Choose shifts that suit your lifestyle — ideal for balancing work and personal commitments
  • NZQA Level 4 and experience required supporting complex clients

What does a Support Worker do?

With Phoenix Healthcare, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of essential tasks from:

  • Household Management (cleaning and meal preparation)
  • Community Integrations
  • Giving medications
  • Personal Care Assistance (showering, dressing, toileting and bowel and bladder care)

To thrive in Support Working role, you will be:

  • Be able to start immediately (must be living within Ashburton or surrounding areas).
  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in Health and Wellbeing, or an equivalent from another country, is beneficial but not essential. We also welcome applicants who may not hold formal qualifications but have relevant previous experience.
  • Previous experience with Spinal Cord Injuries is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience with complex care patients is desired but not mandatory.
  • Good spoken English
  • Ability to pass a police vet.
  • A full NZ Driver's License and a reliable vehicle
  • Having a current First Aid Certificate is a bonus, and if you don't have one, we can help you obtain it.
  • Flexibility opens doors to more shifts We have a variety of shifts (including covers, sleepovers, wake overs and weekend shifts)
