The Taranaki Arts Festival Trust (TAFT) produces a range of festivals, including WOMAD Aotearoa, Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival, Winter Fest, Right Royal Cabaret Fest, Reimagine and Spiegel Fest. We're looking for a talented and passionate Graphic Designer to join our small team and contribute to the visual delivery of this diverse festival programme.

The role is ideal for a designer who is comfortable juggling multiple projects at once, brings a creative approach to their work, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment as part of a collaborative team.

About the Role

As Graphic Designer, you'll create design and visual content that supports TAFT's festivals from early campaign development through to delivery. You'll produce a mix of print, digital and social media assets, reporting to the Marketing Manager and working closely with the wider team to manage projects at different stages while ensuring brand consistency across all outputs.

This is a hands-on, part-time role (20 hours per week) that works across multiple festivals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and produce marketing and communications materials across print and digital channels
  • Develop creative concepts for campaigns, events, and promotions
  • Prepare artwork for print and manage print-ready files
  • Create short-form video content (including reels) for social and digital channels, using supplied footage and in-house assets
  • Create digital assets for websites, social media, email marketing, and presentations
  • Ensure all work aligns with brand guidelines and visual identity
  • Work to agreed timelines and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Liaise with printers, suppliers, and external contractors as required

About You

You will be a confident and organised designer with a strong eye for detail and a creative approach to visual storytelling.

You will ideally have:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a graphic designer (in-house, agency, or freelance)
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
  • A solid portfolio demonstrating a range of creative work
  • Experience designing for both print and digital platforms
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to take and respond to feedback
  • An understanding of brand development and visual consistency

Experience working within a busy marketing team, including supporting social media and other marketing activities, would be an advantage. Experience working in the arts, events, cultural, or not-for-profit sectors would also be an advantage, but is not essential.
